Energy Generation

Not only can you hook your SPOR/CHARGER to a friend's to help spread power, but you can also speed up the charging process by daisy chaining your SPOR/CHARGER to larger solar panels (or wind turbines), building a micro-grid of your own.

ENERGY Storage

We've worked hard to source the best Li-Ion batteries on the planet. The Original SPOR comes with 5200mAh of battery life (3.5 iPhone charges), PCB charge protection and minimal self-discharge. Our aim is to eventually allow you to choose the size & type of battery you need for your unique energy-deprived situation, from charging your phone from your motorcycle to powering that motorcycle with electricity. 

ENERGY usage

Currently our SPOR/charger is capable of charging any of your devices up to 5V (phone, GPS, tablet). With established relationships with some of the best suppliers from around the world, we're already working on charging devices for 12V (e.g. laptops) and 24V (e.g. power tools) systems. Additionally, we're constantly seeking out innovative USB powered devices to add to our ecosystem of USB-powered LED lights, fans and speakers.

Once you hop on-board the SPOR ship, you instantly have access to our Research & Development Hub, CURRENTLY BEING TRANSFERRED TO OUR SPORWARE SOFTWARE PLATFORM FOR EASE OF COLLABORATION.

We realize that a few minds alone can't speak for the thousands of people spreading power with SPOR, which is why we made our entire product open-source.  Not only do we want to hear your feedback, we want you to be able to experiment with and adapt the inner workings of ANY SPOR PRODUCT. WHY IS IT CALLED SPOR?

In nature a ‘spore’ is a single celled organism that gives life to new creations - THINGS LIKE FUNGI, BACTERIA AND SOME PLANTS USE SPORES TO ASSURE REPRODUCTION. WHILE VERY SMALL, EACH IS DESIGNED TO thrive under the harshest conditions, finding a way to support life. SPOR/POWER gives power to your mobile life and can be connected with others to grow/SCALE that power. It's SIMPLE, highly durable and gives you power where/WHEN you need it. It's portable (solar) energy, just like a spore. 

WHAT MAKES SPOR SO GREAT?

We developed this solution with the user in mind (because we are the users!). We built the product from the ground up, trying to keep it simple and open along the way. We keep on top of the latest innovations (e.g 3D printing, lithium-ion batteries) and using new assembly and packaging practices to make a more adaptable and responsible product. We traveled to the other side of the planet to source the best components because we were tired of over-priced products that break down after only weeks of use. We believe energy should be available when and where you need it, and that's what SPOR is, portable energy, plain and simple.   

HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE TO CHARGE?

The battery inside each SPOR is large. Charging the SPOR from a wall outlet will take between 2-3 hours. Passively charging your SPOR to full from direct sunlight will take several days, so it's better to think in terms of percentages. An hour in the sun will give your SPOR enough juice to power an iPhone about 6%, enough to take that epic selfie.

what does the button Led indicate?

This is your battery life indicator.

Green = >80%

Blue = 20-80%

Red = <20%

No Light = Dead Battery (find some sun ASAP!)

What does the other blue light mean?

The other blue LED indicates when your SPOR/CHARGER is directly harnessing energy from the sun. When it's lit up, it's absorbing rays. When it isn't, you might need to re-position it.

Why did my spor arrive dead?

Although we send out all SPOR/CHARGERS with at least 60% charge, there is a chance that during the shipping process, the battery indicator LED button snagged on the packaging and drained the battery. If no light comes on when you press the button, try plugging your SPOR into an outlet via the micro USB port. If you see a red light upon testing the button again, everything's OK, it just needs some time to charge!
